The 45 Paralel (half the distance between the Equator and the
North Pole) goes across the Danube Delta. The temperate continental
climate specific to this paralel is affected by the close vicinity
of the Black Sea and the large water spans in the Delta. The particularity
of the Danube Delta is: - the lowest nebulosity in Romania ; 2,500
hrs of sun per year with the highest solar radiation in Romania of
13.5 Kcal / sq. cm / yr.
- Mean temperatures - winter, 2.3°C ; summer, 20.8°C - air
humidity measured in summer at 14:00 hrs of ca. 60% in the Delta and
70% on the coast.
- Rain - around 400 mm / yr. - dominant N winds alternate with S ones,
major intensification in winter and during transition seasons.
